Bringing to light

Clear, engaging learning experiences shaped from complex ideas with a collaborative spirit and a knack for improvising along the way

The basics

Lindsay joins UpStart after 10 years in the classroom, where she taught every elementary grade, high school theatre, and most recently, culinary arts, helping students see themselves in what they were learning- and cooking. She also served as her school’s DEI liaison and restorative justice officer, working to create a more inclusive and welcoming space for students and staff. Originally from New Jersey with a background in Educational Theatre, Lindsay has always found her way back to working in the Jewish community. She spent nearly two years studying in Jerusalem in the beit midrashot of Neve Yerushalayim and Midreshet Rachel V’Chaya, where she was an inaugural David and Fela Shapell z”l Memorial Couple’s Program Fellow. She holds a Master’s in Secondary Education with a concentration in Administrative Leadership from McDaniel College. Now based in Baltimore, Lindsay is excited to bring her love of learning, community, and creativity to her work at UpStart.

How Lindsay finds meaning and comes together with others

Lindsay loves bringing people together (especially on Shabbos) over food, laughter, and words of Torah. When she’s not thinking about what’s for dinner, she finds meaning by spending time with her 3 sons, learning about other people through memoirs and podcasts, and planning adventures with her husband Eric.
